Police ram moped gangs - New crackdown
Story running across the press this morning showing Met Police knocking Moped thieves off after a pursuit.

I am pleased that someone senior in the MET has been brave enough to make this decision and allow the police to ram these scrotes off their bike and hopefully lock them up.

Giving the police more power in general to step out from this PC era is welcome in my opinion and acts as a deterrent that if you go out to commit this type of crime we have a police service who will deal with you.

Just need to recruit a few more now.

They just need to adopt a similar stance with all the stabby muggers now.

Great they are taking action but this will lead to a high number of compensation claims and we’ll end up paying them thousands!

About time too, what on earth allows these scrotes to go into robbing somebody knowing before they start the police would not chase them.

Let's hope they line them all up and mow them all down simultaneously, there will be huge savings made in time and resources over time.

It’s being investigated by the IOPC already.

I’d rather one go under the wheels than one and the bike plough into a packed pavement. When the parents complain about their future footballer, architect, model, tv presenter then they should be held to account for their parenting

OK. Impression time. See if you can guess who this is...

"But they were not robbing anyone. They've all been fitted up. They were piously making their way from night school, where they are studying law and architecture, to bible classes, before doing the weekly family shopping and then looking in on an elderly neighbour!"

Re: Police ram moped gangs - New crackdown
As I understood it they were taking off their helmets as the police wouldn’t chase them if that happened.
These gangs are usually responsible for multiple crimes.
If they flee the scene of a crime and refuse to stop when challenged they should be shot.

Re: Police ram moped gangs - New crackdown
An EU army squad would have shot them dead. FACT.

See what voting leave has done??? See!! SEE!!!!

That's YOUR fault, that is.

Some bloke from the police in an interview yesterday on the news, said it was a myth even before they started ramming moped gangs that they wouldn't chase them if they had no helmets on

They have been emboldened by reduced police numbers.
Down to former Home Secretary Theresa May
Is there no start to that woman’s talents?

Re: Police ram moped gangs - New crackdown
Did the police bloke have some numbers on the number of mopeds chased and caught?
And how many of them weren’t wearing helmets

Re: Police ram moped gangs - New crackdown
If they know the possible consequences of their illegal actions and still carry them out they have only themselves to blame, especially if the action results in injury.

Once apprehended they should be automatically remanded in custody then given custodial sentences if found carrying a weapon and not given a caution without exception,

This would act as a deterrent and reduce the incidents further.

More public information films should be shown on TV to highlight the consequences of crime.

If you go out on a moped to commit a crime, or are carrying a knife you will not return for many years.

If this was a message the Met Commissioner delivered, it may get quite a good reception.

well it's had an effect incidents down over 30 % so far

Can't the police get hold of souped-up steamrollers?
